Tidying small spaces isn’t always as easy as it sounds. It typically requires planning and preparation before you can begin reorganizing and disposing of everything. Many people make the mistake of thinking that tidying a small space is easier than tidying a large space when this isn’t always true. The correct approach to organizing small spaces is to work one step at a time, starting with tidying and then moving on to cleaning. Here are some tips and tricks to help you organize your small space:

1. Utilize under bed storage

Under-the-bed storage can be a great space-saving option if you don’t have shelves in your room. An under-the-bed cabinet can help you keep a small space organized. It can provide additional storage for whatever you need like clothing, blankets, or other items. Some bed frames even come with built in storage which can be a life-saver in small apartments or townhouses.

2. Use stackable containers

Containers, especially stackable ones, are great tools for organizing just about any space. Since stackable containers are made for small spaces they come in many different sizes, shapes, and colors. Some of them can be used to store clothes in a closet, others can take up much less space than that. Whether you need something to help you organize the top of your refrigerator, jewelry, or kids’ toys, there is a perfect container for every storage need.

3. Hang or put away clothing

Hanging your clothing can be a great way to organize small spaces. You can hang some simple clothes hangers or buy wall shelves with hooks for your jackets or sweaters. This way, you are not just organizing clothes but also creating additional storage space in another part of your house.

4. Pack away seasonal clothing and sentimental objects you don’t use

Many small spaces are cluttered due to seasonal clothing and sentimental objects that are no longer used or needed. To organize your small space, you can go through your items and determine what can be donated, packed away, or thrown out. For seasonal items, storage solutions like bins and boxes can be used in order to save some space.

5. Hang some shelves

Hanging shelves and using vertical space is perhaps one of the easiest and most effective organizing tips for small spaces. A simple shelf can do wonders for a small room. It can provide additional storage, create a more inviting ambiance, and hide clutter. You can hang shelves on the walls, install them on a standing unit or even create your DIY shelf with some wood boards and brackets.
